Once freshman Silas Miller, Marysville, took the lead in Thursday's North Central Kansas League boys' cross country meet, he didn't give it up.

Miller, 40 seconds off his personal best, had two Wamego runners on his heels at Milford State Park, where Chapman hosted the meet. Miller, who won in 17:41, was 13 seconds ahead of the two Red Raider runners. He became MHS' second NCKL boys' champion. He was the first for coach John Rueger. Dallas Leonard, a 2005 MHS graduate, was the school's first league champion and he owns the school record in 16:56.82. Leonard won the 2004 league cross country meet.
