As funeral services are taking place this week in Uvalde, Texas, for the 19 children killed by an 18-year-old gunman with an assault weapon, Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall cautioned against overreacting to this latest tragedy.

When asked by the New York Times whether he would support a commonsense plan to strengthen background checks for gun buyers, Marshall replied, “I think we should all take a deep breath here and try to figure out what causes the problems here before we start jumping to potential solutions.”
