The bridge on Fourth Road north of Waterville has been on Marshall County commissioners’ radar for repairs for the past year. On Monday, the commissioners approved the first large expense to repair the bridge.

The work, which will cost $97,020, on the bridge’s abutments and piers is expected to keep the span open while the commissioners consider their options for replacement. The bridge also needs pin and hanger work, which has been estimated at $570,000, said county public works administrator Mike Craig.
