One by one last week major sports venues announced the cancellation of professional and collegiate basketball events nationwide.

Inside six Kansas venues, high school basketball teams played out the first round of state tournaments. It wasn’t until halftime of the late game in Dodge City, as players, coaches and statisticians headed to the locker room, that Hanover High School’s girls’ team found out they had two quarters left in the season. The Kansas State High School Activities Association had called off all six state tournaments in response to the rapid national spread of the coronavirus.
