Because of COVID-19, carolers and visitors stood outside at local nursing homes.

The first positive case of COVID-19 in the United States was identified on Jan. 20 in Washington state in a man who had returned from Wuhan, China, a few days earlier.

By late March, the coronavirus was affecting and restricting every aspect of life in Marshall County. The pandemic’s influence on local life continued throughout the rest of 2020, and it dominates the first three spots on this year’s top 10 Advocate stories.
