The search for a new superintendent for Marysville public schools moved forward Wednesday with the first candidate set to be interviewed by the school board that evening.

Darren Schroeder, the principal at Marysville Junior-Senior High, is the first candidate. Just one other candidates will be interviewed by the board online via Zoom on Friday, when the candidate's name will be released by the board. A third candidate, Julie Crum, superintendent at Springer, N.M., was to be interviewed by the board via Zoom on Thursday but opted to withdraw after discussion Wednesday with her family.
