Working at the home office

Matt Friedrichs works for from his rural Bremen home. Working from home requires a solid Internet connection and a dedicated space, which can be challenging with kids around, he says.

Five days a week I wake up, roll out of bed, get dressed, turn on the computer, pull up my chair and go to work.

I’m an editor for, but my office is maybe 20 feet from my bedroom, not on the ESPN campus in Bristol, Conn., 1,400 miles from my home near Bremen. That would be a heck of a commute.
