Court work

Volunteers paint lines for tennis, pickleball and basketball on the court in Summerfield City Park.

Summerfield’s City Park was buzzing with electric saws, tree trimmers and leaf blowers on a recent Saturday. The entire place was alive with adults painting poles for swing sets, replacing seats on merry-go-rounds, and hauling away large branches.

The work was part of a project to spruce up the park and modernize its equipment. The committee of local residents who have organized the Summerfield CPR Project — initials stand for Community Park Restoration — plan to add new interactive playground equipment, adjustable basketball goals, tetherball, LED lights, signage for the park, certified mulch for the playground base, new chains and seats for swings and specialized swings.
