Still there in spirit

When Father Nathan Haverland looked out over the crowd during Mass on Sunday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, he saw smiling faces. Photos of more than 500 church and community members were taped on the pews, and people were invited to follow the service online. Web services were one way many local churches dealt with directives to limit public gatherings to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Father Nathan Haverland can’t help but think of all the amazing fruit that’s coming from the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic.

“Families are spending more time together than they ever have, and people are longing to go to church more than they ever have,” said Haverland, pastor of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville, and St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Beattie.
