Pumpkin varieties

White Cotton Candy pumpkins and pink pumpkins with decorative bumps resembling peanuts are among pumpkin varieties grown by the Rodney Nolte family, Beattie. With the pumpkins are twins, Jesse, left, and Caleb Nolte, 10.

Timely rains and hot weather have combined to create this fall’s top-notch pumpkin crop, growers say.

The Rodney Nolte family harvested about 700 pumpkins on Labor Day at their farm near Beattie. The colorful varieties, plus a selection of gourds, go on sale this week at Don’s Tractor Salvage, 1997 Pony Express Highway.
