A champion wrestling coach addressed the Marysville Junior-Senior High School student body in early December. But he didn’t discuss his time on the mat and his winning coaching strategies at Washburn Rural High School near Topeka. Instead he discussed a hot-button topic: mental health.
Damon Parker, wrestling coach and executive director of the Jones Project, has been a teacher and coach for 21 years. He is six-time Kansas Coach of the Year and coached wrestling teams to three state championships.
