Foreign exchange students have long attended area high schools. COVID-19 interrupted this tradition for two years, but Marysville High School this fall has again welcomed two foreign exchange students, Guilherue Silva and Louisa Melarv.

Silva is a high school junior at Colegio Santo Agostinho from Beb Horizonte, Brazil – a town of 2.7 million people. He is a part of both the Flag and Travelmate exchange programs. His parents are Neide Oliveira and Agessy Silva. Oliveira is unemployed and Silva works at Petrobras, an oil refinery in Brazil. Silva’s host parents are Kyle and Brittany Goracke of Marysville.
