• An end to COVID: More people need to get vaccinated. It’s disappointing that Gov. Laura Kelly said earlier this fall that vaccine mandates don’t work when all evidence points to the contrary. The only route out of the pandemic is a higher rate of immunization to a disease that’s costing this nation billions and now killing one in every 100 senior citizens in addition to plenty of younger Americans, while disabling many more. Stop the virus.

• More outdoor activities: Marshall County took steps on this front with a new Marysville bark park, plans to finish the trail north of Center Street and shoring up river banks along the Blue River Rail Trail north of Marysville. Repairs to flood-damaged bridges at Alcove Spring have made that park a wonderland for hikers. This boosts quality of life for all. Let’s keep it up.
