Bronze statue

A noble Marysville High School Bulldog, sculpted in bronze by Bergen, stands in front of the school.

The state of Kansas lost a creator of iconic art this spring when Salina sculptor Dick Bergen died April 22.

He is part of Marysville’s past, creating memorable landmarks in the Pony Express sculpture that sits on a mound of prairie grass and wildflowers between Center and Broadway on the Seventh Street corridor and in the bronze Bulldog that stands watch outside of Marysville’s Junior-Senior High.
