Eluding the defense

Hanover’s Colin Jueneman, right, runs away from an Onaga defender. Jueneman had one carry for 23 yards and three receptions for 101 and two touchdowns in Hanover’s 43rd straight win.

The anticipated showdown between No. 1-ranked Hanover, a team on a 43-game winning streak, and No. 2-ranked Axtell, a team that has won five straight, kicks off a three-week district battle for the top seed going into the playoffs.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at Hanover. Frankfort, the third undefeated team in the district and current front runner at 4-0, is at Beloit-St. John’s/Tipton for a 7 p.m. start Friday in a non-district game. The FHS Wildcats don’t enter the fray until next week’s game at Axtell.
