Atreyau Hornbeak, No. 26, takes the handoff from quarterback Brandon Schroedl in the third quarter of Friday’s district game against visiting Holton.

Holton handed Marysville a sound 30-8 defeat Friday that left the Bulldogs with no guarantee for a district championship that it had wanted.

But, the loss isn’t the end. The Dogs, 6-1 overall, will make the playoffs and Friday’s 7 p.m. kickoff at Hiawatha, 0-7, will help to decide what seed Marysville will get when cross-districting starts Nov. 1. On the line isn’t just the seed, but a home game for that night. Only the top two seeds in each district will get home games. The third and fourth seeds will travel.
