Back to pass

Billed as one of the top games of the week, No. 1 Hanover and No. 2 Axtell did not disappoint in district play.

Homestanding Hanover led most of the game but could not hold off a smaller, battered Axtell team in the end. The Eagles won 28-26 with 48.7 seconds left in regulation. Senior George Volle, sporting a cast on his left arm, caught a 10-yard pass from freshman quarterback Isaac Detweiler, who to knot the game at 26-all. Senior Clark Werner caught Detweiler's two-point pass with his finger tips and managed to stay in bounds at the back of the end zone to put the Eagles up 28-26.
