WWII vet Forrest Maendele honored

Marysville resident Forrest Maendele, one of 13 World War II veterans who still live in Marshall County, was honored at Monday’s Memorial Day ceremony at Marysville Cemetery. Standing beside him is Marysville High School student Frank Ackerman, who is holding the flag of the Merchant Marines, the military branch where Maendele served. Maendele and other sailors helped protect U.S. oil tankers at sea during the war.
