Drowned corn

Flooding again washed out corn in a field near the intersection of 19th and Pheasant Roads. Many farmers are seeing the effects of excessive rain this year. More photos on pages 10A and 8B.

A 4 1/2-inch rain in Beattie caused extensive flooding and damage to a Marshall County Rural Water District No. 3 water line late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

About 45 households along and south of the Winifred Road were without water Sunday morning after an eight-inch water line broke at the Schultz Flats area near a creek along Kansas Highway 99 between Osage Road and Pheasant Road, which is also called the Winifred Road.
