Artist at work

Pen-and-ink drawings by David Hammett have been published in the Advocate for the past 40 years. A reception to honor Hammett will be Nov. 29 at the Advocate, and a small exhibit of his work will be on display through December.

For 40 years, Marysville artist David Hammett has created pen-and-ink drawings of local scenes.

Hay meadows in the Big Blue River Valley, combines rolling as storm clouds build, children at play, 19th century buildings in downtown Marysville. The scenes are captured first by Hammett on his camera and then converted through his pen, documenting local life.
