President Trump and Congress need to quit wasting U.S. resources, playing politics and reopen government. Trump has decided not to accept the congressional decision against funding his U.S.-Mexico border wall, so he cut off non-essential government services. These are services we all pay taxes for. A majority of Americans don’t see more border walls as necessary — the existing walls and security are plenty. Detentions are far fewer than they were two decades ago.

This nation is being held hostage by its president. Food programs for the poor are in danger of losing funding. And here in farm country the lack of federal services has become a tremendous issue when farm loans and other ag program applications can’t be processed and payments can’t be released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
