The first Friday each May has become a much-anticipated day in this community. It’s Pony Up Marysville match day, when people peer into their pocketbooks, bank accounts and stock portfolios and commit to sharing their wealth with others.

Many of their gifts help organizations that serve people in need. Marshall County Helping Hands Food Pantry raised $10,820 this past Friday; Pony Express Partnership for Children raised $16,055; and Marshall County Habitat for Humanity raised $8,325. The gifts contribute to reducing hunger, support for those facing life’s hardships and roofs over families or individuals.
