Kathleen Anne Carlson Hampton Buckholz, 58, Lee’s Summit, Mo., died Jan. 18, 2011, after a battle with lung cancer.
A celebration of life memorial will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Center.
She had requested cremation.
Kathleen Buckholz was born June 22, 1952, in Peoria, Ill.
She worked for the Lee’s Summit Post Office for over 25 years.
She enjoyed traveling and had visited every state in the Union, more than 30 countries and every continent except Antarctica.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Mayme Miller Carlson, of Grandview, Mo.; two brothers Wayne Edwin Carlson of St. Ives, England, and David Lee Carlson of Ball, La; her children, Michael Dale Hampton of Belton, Mo., Adam Perry Hampton of Lee’s Summit and Damon Daniel Buckholz of Cordova, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Perry Hampton, and her father, Albert Edwin Reynolds Carlson.

Margaret A. Haverkamp
Margaret A. Haverkamp, 85, Seneca, formerly of Kelly, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at her home.
A rosary was prayed on Monday, Jan.10, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Arul Carasala Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church, Kelly.
Music was provided by the men’s choir. The lectors were Ashley Haverkamp and Shelly Haverkamp. Joyce Boeckman read the petitions. Gift bearers were Ashley Haverkamp, Kim Haverkamp, Brooke Haverkamp and Lindsay Haverkamp. Eucharistic ministers were Roy Winkler, Bill Boeckman and Shelly Haverkamp.
Burial was in St. Bede’s Catholic Cemetery. Pall bearers were Mike Hynek, Brad Hynek, Chris Hynek, Scott Haverkamp, Matt Haverkamp, Jordon Haverkamp and Derek Haverkamp.
She was born Dec. 21, 1925, at a farm north of Baileyville, the daughter of Bernard and Fredericka Knipper Kreutzman. She attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville. She helped her parents on the farm and lived on the farm until she married.
She married Joseph Haverkamp May 14, 1952. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1991.
She was part of the farm and the dairy operation and cared for Joe’s parents in the home. While she lived in Kelly, she taught religious education classes for the church.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and visiting with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church, Kelly.
Survivors include her children, Karen Hynek, Seneca, Joseph Haverkamp, Silver Lake, and Loren Haverkamp, Holton; her sister, Cecelia Holle, Marysville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Dylan M. Hynek, March 18, 2005; her brothers, Ben, John, Frank, Albert and Joe; and sisters, Sister Mary Verona, Agnes Kopp and Alma Kreutzman.
Memorials can be made to St. Bede’s Church or Nemaha Valley Community Hospital.

Charles Thomas Kier
Charles Thomas “Tom” Kier, 64, Beattie, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville.
A service was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at Marysville Christian Fellowship. The Rev. Rick Glowacki officiated. Music included “I Saw the Light/I’ll Fly Away” by the Marysville Christian Fellowship Music Team, “Home Where I Belong” by Pastor Glowacki and “Amazing Grace.”
Burial was in the Life Cemetery near Beattie. The pallbearers were Ivan Horn, Jason Brinegar, Dan Pianalto, Dale Meinecke, Scott Drinkgern and Nicholas Pianalto.
Charles “Tom” Kier was born Nov. 3, 1946, at Concordia, the son of Charles Edward and Marie “Teri” Benjamin Kier. He graduated from Washington County High School, attended St. Mary of the Plains College, where he played football, and then attended Regis University in Denver. He began practicing law after graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1972. He began his practice in Washington, where he served as county attorney.
He relocated to Colorado and later returned to practice law in Marysville with the firm of Galloway, Wiegers & Heeney. He practiced with the firm from 1988 through 2005, when he decided to start his own solo practice. During his time with the firm, he served on several boards and civic organizations and for several years was Marysville city attorney.
He married Linda Bisping July 1, 2006.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. He found his calling and enjoyed ministering to inmates. He taught hunter education courses and coached youth football.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Marie “Teri” Kier, Washington; five sons, Charles Kier, Durango, Colo., Grant Kier, Missoula, Mont., Jonathon Smithkier and Gregory Smithkier, both of Louisville, Ky., Matthew Lehi Schott, Kansas City; three daughters, Holly Kier, Manhattan, Amy Renee’ Wassenberg and Julie Mae Grauer, both of Marysville; five siblings, Mary Catherine Becker, Hyannis, Neb., Margaret Stratton, Fort Worth, James Kier, Washington, John Kier, Newton, and Nancy Beeman, Topeka; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.

Marie Kruse, 92, Bremen, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Cambridge Place.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Kinsley Mortuary. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Douglas Peters
Douglas Peters, 54, Columbus, Neb., formerly of Marysville, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha.
A service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Marysville. The Rev. Judy Scott officiated. Tam Johnson was the organist, and Pat Breeding sang “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace.”
Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Fiegenschuh, David Dwerlkotte, Rob Dummermuth, Steve Davied, Terry Brockhaus and Rick Koch.
Douglas Peters was born April 9, 1956, the son of Kenneth F. and Leona M. Binggeli Peters. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1974.
He married Connie Allard Oct. 27, 1990, at Wolbach, Neb. He sold farm machinery, John Deere since 1988. Northeast Nebraska had been his territory. He had been retired for three years.
He was a member of the 12-12 Club in Columbus.
He enjoyed playing golf, harvests, lawn work and family.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Leona Peters, Marysville; his brothers, Alan Peters, McPherson, and Ron Peters, Lenexa; and his sister, Pam Smith, Marysville.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1984.
Memorials are to be designated later.

Brian P. Roever
Brian P. “Pete” Roever, 41, Marysville, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Marysville.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the United Methodist Church, Frankfort. The Rev. Phoebe Pitney will officiate. Janet Plegge will be the organist, and music selections will include “Old Rugged Cross” and “Why Me Lord.”
Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Pacha, Randy Jones, Cody Pacha, Shane Roever, Ian Roever and Dalton Roever.
Brian Roever was born Sept. 11, 1989, at Marysville, the son of Robert and Beverly Woodard Roever. He attended Marysville High School and graduated in 1988. He received an associate’s degree from Cloud County Community College in 1990 and worked in farming.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a fan of the University of Kansas.
Survivors include his parents and his brother, Rob Roever, Marysville.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Dana Roever, and his grandparents, Craig and Opal Woodard and Paul and Olive Roever.
